If you live in an aging home you might be astonished how often these gaps occur. draughts can be hunted down by using a wax candle flame and checking when it flickers as you move around the room taking care not to drop any hot wax.

If you are cold in the room put on some more clothing before you move to rise the thermostatic temperature. You may not recognise it but a small 1° decrease in the room temperature can save a large 10% on your heating use.
Make greater use on your drapes to control temperature :
The sun is very effective at heating your home in the winter, when shining, if you keep the curtains opened to allow it in. External temperatures drop at night time and your house can lose a lot of heat through the windows. Drapes can be an extra form of insulation and this time and cut heat loss if they are shut, saving a small amount each daylight amounts to a large saving on your heating costs over time. The heavier your drapes the best for providing this additional layer of insulation.
