External temperatures drop at night time and your house can lose a lot of heat through the windows. Drapes can be an extra form of insulation and this time and cut heat loss if they are shut, saving a small amount each daylight amounts to a large saving on your heating costs over time. The heavier your drapes the best for providing this additional layer of insulation.
