Central Heating Boiler cover policies can cover a really broad spread of problems

These days there exist insurance plans which can cover a very wide range of events ranging from pet health through standard problems such as mobile cover. Some are more important than others, and some are even compulsory, as is the case with car insurance. Anyone seeking a housing loan has to make an insurance policy for the house so that both the lender’s and borrower’s interests are insured. Policyholders are requireded by the lender to protect themselves from losses that could ruin their lives by these types of protection cover.

Carrying somewhat of a lower degree of importance is central heating system insurance, such as those products from npower Hometeam, Eon and British Gas. The central heating insurance is obviously not as important as your home insurance, but its important nonetheless as fixing it can cost you a fortune if you have an unexpected central heating boiler or heating failure. If you do not have this security and in case the system stops working, professional help is often not possible immediately, also it doesn’t sound like a great idea to live without heating for any length of time particularly in cold wintertimes. But the most serious implication is the possibility of a faulty gas central heating system, which could be leaking potentially fatal carbon monoxide.

There are a range of plans on the market. The usual insurance policy is the one that covers the basic requirements and could include annual inspection and servicing. Spare parts and repair work are usually not included in these basic plans as inclusion will increase the costs. You just need to pay small amount per month to upgrade to a policy that covers repairs, labour and spare parts building on one of these basic plans, unless your boiler is under guarantee and covered by the manufacturer or the installer. This extra money each month is well spent when a central heating system is getting close to the end of its working life. Although a customer may just want their central heating system covered, it might be prudent to have the rest of the system (radiators, heating controls, central heating pump and so on) covered too.

One needs to be wary of any exemptions or limits included in the insurance policy document when selecting an insurance policy, each supplier is different. Some providers will limit the number of call outs per year or specify a maximum cost of inclusive repairs for a given period. Central heating insurance is like all other types in that you shouldn’t just go for the cheapest deal and always consider whether it has sufficient cover.
