Combi heating boiler space saving advantages
Combi heating boiler space saving advantages
smaller homes can benefit from fitting a combi heating boiler as they require much less room than orthodox boilers. All you require to put in the full central heating system is a combination boiler and balanced flue. Add in radiators and copper pipes and you are then able to warm your dwelling house. You could be surprised by this and ask whether we had left out some parts. Isn’t it true that most systems seem to require a feed and expansion cylinder in the loft, a water pump to move the hot water around and a storage cylinder to keep hot water when not called for.
Surprisingly a combi heating boiler does not require any of these component parts. With a combi you can dispense with the hot water storage cylinder, there is no need for an attic based feed and expansion cylinder, the combination gas boiler contains the other parts inside its casing. Adopting this system means you can save a significant amount of room.
Combination gas boilers are not a new gas boiler design. Whilst they were first installed in Europe they are now a very popular gas boiler for fitting in the United Kingdom. There are two main divergences to be highlighted when likened with traditional heating boilers. The first point to spotlight is that the circulating hot water for the central heating is within a fully sealed system. This means that there is no need for a feed and expansion cylinder in the loft. Extra room is saved by the gas boiler incorporating its own hot water storage vessel removing the requirement for the hot water storage tank.
As hot water is needed it is produced right away by the boiler, turning on a hot water signals this demand to the boiler. The gas boiler can quickly heat cold water by using an internal heat exchanger. Water from the sealed central heating circuit is heated and is diverted to the hot water heat exchanger heating it up. Fresh cold water from the outside mains passes through this heat exchanger where it is heated before it reaches the hot water tap.
The heating boiler design gives priority to developing immediate hot water. As soon as the hot water tap is closed the combi heating boiler system will once more start offering hot water to the radiators.
If you do have a storage space problem in your home you should give serious thought to installing a combination boiler when you next exchange your boiler.
