Dwellings have diverse types of heating

Various types of Central Heating Systems are available in the heating market. Despite the different names basically these systems usually have copper pipework, radiators and a gas boiler.

People in the United Kingdom, Europe and some parts of Russia, hardly need an air conditioner because of the low average temperature. Most of us need a decent heating supply far more; this is why the majority of new homes that are being built in this day and age are built with a Gas Central Heating System.

As autumn fades and chilly winds begin to blow, homeowners turn to their Central Heating for warmth and comfort. Only then you can relax and feel cosy inside your house. This security in winter is possible only if your Gas Central Heating System is infallible, well maintained and functioning efficiently. It is important to have peace of mind that your Gas Central Heating System is not only practical to use but also safe.

Gas Central Heating system can be divided into two broad categories, pumped/vented systems and sealed systems.

Pumped or vented Central Heating systems are most popularly used. An expansion tank is present in a pumped heating system. The tank supplies your house with hot water and provides the central heating radiators with heat. Water expands when heated; this expansion is accommodated in a feed-expansion tank. The tank is placed in the highest place, normally the loft area. The hot water tank has two main functions; to heat the house and and provide hot water for washing.

Most houses, especially the old ones will have a vented/pumped heating system.

A slightly newer heating boiler is sealed heating system and this is the preferred central heating system in newer properties. No water tanks are needed for a Sealed system as it is a completely closed setup saving space. There are benefits to have this closed type of system with pipework and tanks being unnecessary.

- The problem of freezing pipes is eliminated.

- loft space is freed up and pipe maintenance is reduced.

- Reduces the risk of leaking.

- Unlike pumped/vented systems, air is not drawn through open vents so the possibility of airlocks, corroding and sludge is much lower.

- It is possible to flush out the system if required by using the mains water supply.

The sealed Central Heating system is a fully packaged system with all the controls and safety devices already in place. The water for the system is provided directly from the main water pipe of the house. There is no hot water tank, so water is drawn directly from the main supply.

Pressure variation can be regulated by a pressure vessel holding compressed gas; the hot water is pressurized by a diaphragm which also separates the water from the compressed gas. The pressure in a sealed Gas Central Heating System is controlled by a valve that lets water out if the pressure becomes too high and opens to refill the system with water if the pressure gets too low.

Compared to any other form of heating, Gas Central Heating systems are by far the most practical and economical. Moreover, they offer all kinds of control, which are usually not found in other heating systems giving you a more pleasant environment.
