Get a brand-new gas boiler to keep warm this winter
We should all prepare for the winter months as the weather gets colder and the days shorter by having good central heating in our homes. By centrally heating your house, you can make it more comfortable, inviting and relaxing.
A gas central heating system is basically a boiler with pipes carrying the heat to central heating radiators placed in all the rooms; these systems can be of the pumped or vented type.
The most common out of these is probably the pumped system, these consist of a feed and expansion tank, the hot water tank works as the centre storage, and then heats the radiators via the pipes. The expansion tank does allow for any water expansion that may occur.
There is also what is known as a sealed system in which no centre core is used to warm the heating radiators. This system is essentially self-providing and therefore does not require any water tanks. This system offers a major advantage in that it reduces the risk of leakage and prevents other hazards such as airlocks; colder countries like Russia can reap great advantages from this systems since it avoids the risk of frozen pipes.
So you might ask what is really the point of getting gas central heating?.
Well the main benefit of having central heating is that it has the ability to warm up the whole house or office at very fasts speeds, and without affecting the air around you. Electric fires, gas and storage heaters were the types used in the old days. But the main drawbacks with these, were that they made the air somewhat dry and hard, as well as letting off a slight odour.
Central heating ended such problems, however your central heating system should be checked and serviced regularly in order to ensure it is running at its optimum. Spring and summer often sees these systems shut down and completely ignored, only to be abruptly turned on when a chilly wind blows in. It is more prudent to routinely switch on the system in autumn as wintertime approaches, so that any hitches can be repaired by summoning a central heating expert well in time.
It is also important to remember that most household gas central heating systems allow in dust or air, thus requiring regular drainage. The best way to do it is to keep a bucket under the valve, and slowly open it to allow all the water to come out; before closing the valve, ensure that no more water is coming out.
