The winter is in store so get a central heating system
Icy winds of winter curl through the trees and you huddle at your window, thinking of heating for your house – this season perhaps you should get yourself gas central heating. If you have an efficient and safe central heating system installed you will enjoy the benefits of a comfortable and snug house.
Most heating systems compromise of a heating boiler; heating radiator and pipework, there are basically two different sorts of gas central heating systems, one being a pumped system and the other being a vented system.
The most frequently used system of the two is probably the pumped systems, these comprise of a feed and expansion tank, which works by the gas boiler heating up which then distributes the heat through the pipes to the heaters. The tank has enough space to allow for any water expansion that might result from the heating.
The second type of heater is composed of a sealed system without a central component that is part of the radiator. Water tanks are not required here because it is a closed system. It works well in colder countries like Norther Europe because the pipes are less likely to freeze up in this system, in addition to that there are less risks of leaking and there are no airlocks too.
So the question now is, why do we need gas central heating? Is it really necessary?.
The major advantage of central heating is that the home or work space can be quickly, uniformly and efficiently heated without compromising the quality of air in your environment. Gas fires, electric heaters and storage heaters were more commonly used in the past. However, these older heating methods make the air sticky and hard, and can also emit an unpleasant odour.
With central heating systems, these problems are not encountered, but your gas central heating system will require regular maintenance. In many homes, these systems are not used during the summertime, but as soon as the winters set in, they are intensely used; this should not be done. Try to switch on your heating system during autumn so that if there is any defect, it can be fixed well before winters approach and fixed at a time when the heating engineers are less busy.
It is also important to remember that most home central heating systems allow in dust or air, thus requiring regular drainage. The easiest way to do this is to gently open the valve and allow any water to fall into a bucket placed underneath.
