There are many different types of gas Gas Central Heating Systems available to you. Most if not all of these Gas Central Heating Systems comprise of a gas boiler, some radiators and connecting pipework.
Whilst we need central heating systems air conditioners are not needed in the UK and Europe because of the average temperature throughout the year. Many of us find proper heating a necessity; as a result most of the new homes being constructed today are built with a Gas Central Heating System.
With the onset of winter, heating becomes crucial to warming your home. Only then you can relax and feel cosy inside your house. So you want to be sure that your Gas Central Heating System is dependable. It is important to have peace of mind that your Central Heating System is not only practical to use but also safe.
Vented (or pumped) and Sealed heating systems are the two most common types available.
The most commonly used systems are pumped/vented Central Heating systems. The basic differentiating components of such a system are a feed and expansion tank. The hot water storage tank provides your home with warm water and brings heat to the central heating radiators. The tank makes way for any water expansion that is caused by the heating process. A pumped/vented heating system requires that the tank be installed at the highest level within the house – such as an attic or loft space, certainly on the top floor. It serves a dual purpose by heating the house and also supplying heated water.
Many homes feature a pumped/vented Central Heating System, particularly the ones constructed several year ago.
The sealed Gas Central Heating system is one that more and more people are opting for these days. As the name indicates, a sealed system is a an enclosed system therefore no expansion water tanks are needed. In the absence of water tanks and pipework, the whole system is sealed and vented; here are some prominent benefits of such a system.
- There is no risk of pipes freezing in the attic as with older systems.
- There is no need to maintain the tanks and pipes as there are not present.
- This decreases the chances of a possible leakage.
- Reduced risk of air locks, corrosion and sludge as there isn’t a chance of air being drawn down into the system through open vents as the system is sealed.
- If necessary, the system can be flushed out under pressure using the main water supply.
A sealed Central Heating System is a system with the required controls and safety equipment all contained in one. The mains water supplies the water required for the sealed Gas Central Heating system. The main water supply feeds the system directly under pressure.
Normal variations of pressure can be allowed in a sealed system through a pressure vessel that contains compressed gas; this is separated from the sealed system water by a diaphragm. The safety valve opens up when the pressure in the system rises so that water can escape through it, on the other hand it opens up when the pressure drops down so that the water can refill the system.
Gas Central Heating Systems are worth the money as they are cheaper to run than any other form of heating. Furthermore, they offer all kinds of control, which are usually not found in other heating systems giving you a more enjoyable environment.
